Your images

Drag a file here, paste it, or choose one.

.heic, .heif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .avif, .gif, .bmp, .svg. Up to 50 MB.

PNG images, with or without transparency. Add up to 50.

Your images never leave your browser. They are decoded and redrawn here in the page.

Convert to

Opens in everything. No transparency, so clear areas get the background colour under More options.

85 to 90 looks the same as the original to most eyes. Lower makes smaller files.

Remove location and camera data

Always on. Redrawing the image in the browser drops EXIF, GPS position and the camera model, so there is no way to keep them here. A photo's rotation is applied to the pixels first, so it stays the right way up.

88% smaller. Soft shading and gradients are where PNG is weakest and JPG is strongest. A flat logo or a screenshot of text shrinks far less.

Questions

Asked and answered

No. The PNG is decoded and saved as JPG inside this tab, on your own machine.

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. JPG drops fine detail the eye barely notices, which in a photo or an illustration with gradients is most of the data. A flat logo with a few colours shrinks far less, and may look worse as JPG.

JPG cannot store transparency, so clear pixels are filled with the background colour under More options. It is white by default. Pick the colour of the page or slide the image will sit on.

Mostly. JPG can leave faint smudges around sharp edges and small text. Keep the quality at 90 or above for screenshots, or keep them as PNG if they must be crisp.

For logos, icons, diagrams and anything that needs transparency. PNG is the better format there, and the file is often small already.
