Result

Worked example

Measured on our own 27 second launch film with a stereo AAC track.

With audio

7.6 MB

Muted

6.9 MB

The whole saving is the audio track itself. The picture is copied across untouched, which is why this finishes in about two seconds where a re-encode would take about as long as the video runs.

1. Drop in a video. 2. Check the preview. 3. Press mute. 4. Download it.

What Interlace does

Replace the voice instead of muting it.

  • Paste your script and pick a natural AI voice
  • Scenes are timed to the narration
  • The same video in 28 languages

Questions

Asked and answered

No. The file is read by the page, handed to ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, and written back out, all on your own machine. There is no upload step, and closing the tab discards everything.

No. The video stream is copied packet for packet into a new container. Only the audio track is left out, so the picture is bit for bit the source.

There is no encode. Dropping a track and rewriting the container is close to a file copy, which is why it finishes in seconds even on a large file.

Yes, use the audio extractor. It pulls the soundtrack out as MP3 or WAV and leaves your original file alone.

500 MB and 10 minutes. Everything runs inside one browser tab, and a tab has a fixed memory budget. Past those limits the run gets slow or fails outright, so a desktop encoder is the better tool.
