.heic, .heif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .avif, .gif, .bmp, .svg. Up to 50 MB.

JPG or JPEG photos. Add up to 50.

Your images never leave your browser. They are decoded and redrawn here in the page.

Convert to

Lossless and keeps transparency. Larger than JPG for photos, smaller for flat graphics.

More options

Remove location and camera data

Always on. Redrawing the image in the browser drops EXIF, GPS position and the camera model, so there is no way to keep them here. A photo's rotation is applied to the pixels first, so it stays the right way up.

Worked example

Measured on our own 1280 by 720 still from one of our videos, converted to PNG.

JPG

120 KB

PNG

653 KB

Five and a half times the size, and the picture is no sharper. PNG stores exactly what the JPG decodes to. The gain is that later edits and saves lose nothing more.

1. Add your JPG files. 2. Check PNG is picked. 3. Convert in the browser. 4. Download.

Questions

Asked and answered

No. The PNG holds exactly what the JPG decodes to, blocky edges and all. What PNG gives you is no further loss from here on, which matters if the image will be edited and saved several times.

No. A JPG has no transparency to carry over, so the PNG is fully opaque. Removing a background is a separate job.

JPG stores an approximation of the picture. PNG stores every pixel of that approximation exactly, including the noise JPG compression adds. For a photo the PNG is often several times the size.

No. The image is redrawn before it is saved, so EXIF fields such as GPS position, camera model and date are dropped. Rotation is applied to the pixels first.
