Measured on our own 27 second launch film at 1080p, the Medium target, 720p.
Before
7.6 MB
After, 720p
1.4 MB
Most of that comes from the resolution drop, not from throwing away detail. A screen recording behaves the same way: little motion, so the encoder has an easy job.
1. Drop in a video. 2. Pick a target. 3. Encode locally. 4. Download it.
What Interlace does
Short videos are small videos. Interlace makes them short.
- Pick the length before the video is made
- The script, scenes and voice are written to fit it
- Download an MP4 at the resolution your LMS wants
Real Interlace output, unedited. Shown silent and sped up.

Questions
Asked and answered
No. The whole encode runs in your browser with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The file never leaves your machine, and closing the tab discards it.
It depends on the source. A screen recording at 1080p usually drops a long way at 720p because there is little motion. Set a target size in megabytes and we compute the bitrate from the duration.
500 MB and 10 minutes. A browser tab has a fixed memory budget, and past that the encode gets slow or fails. For anything longer, use a desktop encoder.
WebAssembly runs single threaded here, on purpose: the multi threaded build needs cross-origin isolation headers that would break embedded video elsewhere on this site. Expect roughly real time on a modern laptop.
MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV in, MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio out, which plays everywhere.
