Measured

The speed is set in words a minute, not in pixels, so the runtime above the prompter is what you get. Change the font size or the line width mid read and you keep your place and your pace.
1. Paste your script. 2. Set the speed and the look. 3. Read it. 4. Record yourself if you like.

Most people read to camera at 130 to 160 words a minute. Start at 140, do one run, and adjust with the arrow keys while it scrolls. The runtime above the prompter changes with the speed, so you can also work backwards from the length you need.
No. The script stays in the page, and the webcam recording is made by your browser's own recorder and kept in memory until you download it. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab discards both.
A hardware teleprompter puts a sheet of glass in front of the camera lens and reflects a screen lying below it. The reflection reverses the text, so mirror mode flips it left to right first and it reads normally in the glass.
Space starts and pauses. The up and right arrows speed it up by 10 words a minute, the down and left arrows slow it down. F toggles full screen and Escape leaves it. The keys work whenever the prompter has focus or is full screen.
Chrome, Edge and Firefox record WebM. Safari records MP4. The file holds your webcam picture and your microphone at the quality your browser picks. Convert a WebM to MP4 with our video converter if your editor wants one.
Yes, with touch: tap the prompter to start and pause, and use the buttons under it for speed. A phone propped above the lens works as a basic prompter, though the text is small, so turn the font size up.
