HOW INTERLACE HANDLES VOICES

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Narration is the part of a video most likely to be misused, so this page spells out exactly what Interlace does and does not do with voices. It is written for customers, reviewers, and anyone who hears an Interlace video and wants to know how it was made.

1. TWO KINDS OF VOICES, NOTHING ELSE

  • Premium and standard AI voices. A licensed library of synthetic voices from our speech providers. None of them is modelled on a specific real person.
  • Your own voice. In early testing, available soon. When it opens, the account holder can record their own voice and use it as the narrator across their videos.

There is no third option. Interlace does not accept audio of other people, and does not offer voices of public figures.

2. YOUR OWN VOICE IS RECORDED LIVE

  • The recording happens inside the app, through your microphone. Audio files cannot be uploaded.
  • Before recording, the app shows a consent statement. You read it aloud at the start of the recording. The statement includes a word that changes every time, so a recording made earlier cannot be reused.
  • We transcribe the opening of the recording and check that the consent statement is there. If it is not, the voice is not created and nothing is sent to our speech provider.

3. WHAT WE KEEP, AND WHY

  • With each custom voice we store the consent statement, a short transcript of it, the time, the account that recorded it, and a fingerprint of the recording.
  • This record exists so that any voice in Interlace can be traced to the person who recorded it and their consent. It is deleted when the voice is deleted.

4. A VOICE STAYS IN ITS WORKSPACE

  • A custom voice can be used only by the workspace that recorded it. It cannot be shared with other workspaces, exported as a model, or moved.
  • Custom voices are available on paid plans only, so every voice belongs to an identified, billed account.
  • Delete a voice at any time from the Library. The recording and the provider-side voice are removed with it.

5. WHAT WE NEVER ALLOW

  • The voice or likeness of any other person, including public figures and celebrities, whether or not you believe you have their permission.
  • Presenting an AI-generated video as a real recording of a real person.
  • Images or video depicting identifiable real people. Illustrated scenes render people as generic figures.

These rules are part of our Terms of Service. Accounts that break them are suspended and the content removed.

6. REPORTING MISUSE

If you believe an Interlace video uses someone's voice or likeness without consent, email support@interlacevideo.com with the link. We review reports within one business day and can trace any custom voice to the account that recorded it.

7. OUR PROVIDERS

Speech is synthesised by Google (standard voices) and ElevenLabs (premium voices and your own voice) under terms that do not allow them to train on your recordings. Transcription for the consent check uses OpenAI. All three are listed in our Privacy Policy.
