Worked example

Measured on our own WebVTT for a 2 minute 17 second explainer, converted to SRT.

Source VTT, 33 cues

2,884 bytes

SRT, 33 cues

2,876 bytes

Same 33 cues and times. Each one now has a number and a comma before the milliseconds, and the WEBVTT header is gone, which is all Premiere or Resolve need.

1. Add the subtitles. 2. Pick the format. 3. Download or copy.

What Interlace does

From a meeting transcript to a video people finish.

  • Paste the cleaned transcript as a script
  • Interlace narrates it and draws each scene
  • Subtitles are made from the narration

Real Interlace output, unedited. Shown silent and sped up.

Questions

Asked and answered

No. The file is read as text by this page, converted with plain JavaScript and offered back as a download. There is no server step.

SRT has no place for cue settings, so they are dropped and every subtitle sits where the player puts it by default, usually bottom centre. The text and the times are kept exactly.

WebVTT voice tags, like the ones Teams writes, become the name and a colon at the start of the line. Class tags, karaoke timestamps and ruby text are removed. Italics, bold and underline stay, since SRT supports them.

Yes. A Zoom cloud recording's transcript is a .vtt file. Drop it in and you get an SRT you can load into a video editor or burn into the recording. For plain text instead, the SRT to TXT converter takes the VTT directly.

Yes. It reads files with a byte order mark, Windows line endings, missing blank lines, times without hours, cue identifiers, and header lines like Kind and Language.
