PNG is lossless, so every edge stays sharp, and it costs space. The same four pages as JPG came to 655 KB. Most of the PNG weight is the one page with a picture on it, at 873 KB.

No. The PDF is opened by pdf.js, the same PDF engine Firefox uses, running inside your tab. There is no upload step, and closing the tab discards everything.
PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it was drawn. For a page of text, a chart or a diagram that means sharp letters and clean lines. JPG throws away detail to save space, which shows as smudges around text. The trade is size: a PNG of a page full of photos is much bigger than the JPG.
Turn it on under More options and the page is drawn without its white paper, so only what the PDF actually paints is kept. A logo or a diagram exported this way can sit on a coloured slide. Some PDFs paint their own white rectangle behind everything; that rectangle is part of the page, so it stays.
It depends on the page and the DPI. Text on white compresses well. Photos do not. Doubling the DPI makes four times as many pixels, so a 300 DPI PNG of a photo-heavy page can run to several megabytes. The result shows the size of every page.

Not while it has a password. Open it in your PDF reader, save a copy without the password, and use that copy. We never ask for the password, because we would have to handle it to open the file.
