How to Share an Interlace Video: Links, Embeds and Passwords
One link for everyone. Copy it, embed it, lock it with a password, and see what your viewers see.
- You need
- A finished video in Interlace
- Time
- 2 minutes
- You end with
- A link or an embed code people can watch
Every Interlace video has one share link. You can send it, embed it in another page, lock it with a password and decide whether viewers may download the file. When you change a setting, the same link picks it up, so you never have to send a new one.
Our example is a two-scene safety video, "Hazard communication policy". Before you start, you need a finished video. If you do not have one yet, make your first video first.
Step 1
Open the Share menu
Open the video in the editor and click the Share button at the top right, a few buttons left of Export. The Share video menu opens. It holds everything about the link in one place.

Step 2
Choose who can open it
The switch at the top sets who the link works for. With Anyone with the link on, anyone who has the link can watch. Switch it off and the video becomes Private: the link stops working until you switch it back on.
If the video does not have a link yet, press Create link.

Step 3
Copy the link
Press Copy link and paste it into an email, a chat message or a course page. The link opens a page with the player and the transcript, so viewers do not need an Interlace account.

Step 4
Embed it in another page
To show the video inside your intranet, a help center or a course page, press Copy embed. You get an iframe code. Paste it where the page accepts HTML and the player appears in place.

Step 5
Protect it with a password
Switch on Password protect, type a password in Set a password and press Enter or the save button next to it. The row then reads Password set. Send the password to your viewers separately from the link.
To remove the password later, switch Password protect off.

Step 6
Decide about downloads
Allow download lets viewers save the video file from the share page. Switch it off if the video should only be watched online.

Step 7
What viewers see: the password page
When a link has a password, viewers first see This video is protected. They type the password and press Unlock.

Step 8
What viewers see: the player
The share page shows the video's title, the player and a strip of scene thumbnails. Viewers press play, skip between scenes, turn the sound and the captions on or off, and jump to a scene from its thumbnail.

Step 9
The transcript
Under the player, the Transcript lists what the narrator says in each scene, with the time it starts. It helps viewers who read faster than they listen, and anyone who cannot play sound.

What to do next
- Put it in your LMS. A link is not tracked. For completion tracking, export a SCORM 1.2 package.
- Share it in more languages. Translate the video and each language gets captions or narration of its own.
- Tidy it first. Edit the video with the chat and Select before you send the link.
