Worked example
Measured on our own 27 second launch film at 1920 by 1080, turned 90 degrees right.
Before
7.6 MB
After, 1080 by 1920
3.7 MB
The frame swaps its width and height, and the rotation is in the pixels rather than in a flag, so a player that ignores rotation metadata still shows it the right way up.
1. Add a video. 2. Choose the turn. 3. Bake it in. 4. Download it.
What Interlace does
Made the right way up, in every format.
- Choose 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 before the video is made
- Scenes are composed for that frame
- Nothing to rotate or crop afterwards
Real Interlace output, unedited. Shown silent and sped up.

Questions
Asked and answered
No. The file is read by the page, handed to ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, and written back out, all on your own machine. There is no upload step, and closing the tab discards everything.
Phones record in one orientation and write a rotation flag into the file. Players that read the flag turn the picture, players that ignore it do not. This tool re-encodes with the rotation applied to the pixels, so the flag stops mattering.
Rotating turns the frame. Flipping mirrors it, so text reads backwards. Use flip when a webcam or a screen mirror has already reversed the image, not to fix an orientation.
No. The audio is re-encoded to AAC at 128 kbps and stays in sync. A clip with no sound stays silent.
No. The video comes out with no watermark, no logo and no end card, and you do not need an account. The only change to the picture is the turn or flip you picked.
500 MB and 10 minutes. Everything runs inside one browser tab, and a tab has a fixed memory budget. Past those limits the run gets slow or fails outright, so a desktop encoder is the better tool.
