Questions
Asked and answered
No. The file is opened by the page and converted by ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, on your own machine. There is no upload step, and closing the tab discards everything.
MPEG-4 Part 2 tagged as Xvid, with MP3 audio. That pairing is what DivX certified DVD players, TVs and car units were built to read, and Windows has played it for years.
Most often it is the resolution. Many DivX players only play up to standard definition, so open More options and pick 480p. Some also want 30 frames a second or less, which is under Frame rate.
MPEG-4 Part 2 is an older, less efficient codec than the H.264 in your MP4, so it needs more data for the same picture. Pick Smaller if the file has to fit on a stick or a disc.
Browsers do not play AVI. Open the download in VLC, Windows Media Player or on the device you made it for.
500 MB and 10 minutes. Everything runs inside one browser tab, which has a fixed memory budget, and the encoder runs on a single thread. A rewrap takes seconds; a full re-encode runs at about real time for 720p and several times the clip length for 1080p. For anything bigger, a desktop encoder such as HandBrake is the better tool.
